Last Sunday’s indulgence 2: fresh made potato chips. Seriously good.
Last night’s mini feast. After finding out that it was Kitchen God Festival day a.k.a. Little Chinese New Years yesterday, I figured it would be fun to honor it by joining in by making a meal using a cooking hearth I own as mandated (my bbq and butane stove), in order to give thanks for having good fortune in always having food to eat this last year. To add more fun, the beau and I made it an indoor picnic meal.
Churros. Totally broke my food elimination diet this morning, but it was worth it? Back to no wheat and rice now that I’m home and can avoid eating out.
Was treated to some great sushi and sashimi items tonight. Here some Spanish mackerel nigiri topped with freshly minced ginger and scallions. Yum!
One of the perks with travel is that I get the windows of opportunity to seek out new foods and drink. With business travel that perk is often harder to obtain, with being on work schedules and rushing around without much personal at all. Here I managed a 20 min lunch break walk away from the factory to the local neighbourhood street market. Two other people joined me on my adventure, factory hq staffers a visiting from Taiwan. We came across this dried food snack vendor and we all grinned big smiles. Such fresh variety of local dried fruits, nuts, and seafood (mostly fish and squid). We tasted as many things as we could then purchased an array of nuts and plums before we rushed back for our jam packed afternoon of things to do. So glad for the chance experience.
